Girlfriend, this season is not just about cookouts and fireworks — it’s about your freedom.
Freedom to rest.
Freedom to shine.
Freedom to say “no” without guilt.
After years of pouring into everyone else, I’m declaring this summer the season of sacred self-prioritization. July is my month to breathe, reset, and choose me on purpose.
Here are 7 intentional ways I’m prioritizing myself this month — and I hope you’ll grab a few of these for yourself too.
1. Unplugging on Sundays
I’ve started turning my phone on do not disturb for a few sacred hours every Sunday. No scrolling, no notifications, no distractions. Just gospel music, lemon tea, and journaling by the window. It’s my mini Sabbath — and I’ve never felt more aligned.
Try This: Set a Sunday “soul care” alarm to remind you to log off and tune in.
2. Saying Yes to Solo Brunches
Yes, I love a good girl’s day — but I’ve also learned the power of taking myself out. Whether it’s a solo brunch at a cute cafĂ© or sipping iced hibiscus tea on the patio, it’s my reminder that I am enough company.
Self-Love Tip: Dress up for you. Add some cute sunnies, swipe on a summer gloss, and go glow!
3. Booking That Massage Without Guilt
For years, I thought massages were a luxury. Now? They’re a necessity. Releasing tension and stress is one of the best gifts I can give myself. I block off the time like I would a doctor’s appointment — because my peace is just that important.
Bonus: Add peppermint oil or eucalyptus to your at-home bath for a spa vibe between sessions.
4. Moving My Body in Joyful Ways
No pressure workouts this summer. I’m dancing in the living room, stretching under the ceiling fan, and walking in the early morning before the Texas heat hits. Movement is my medicine, and I’m doing it with joy.
LTK Fave: I’m loving my lightweight walking shoes and waist-friendly leggings from [insert LTK brand here].
5. Saying “No” Without Explaining
This July, I’m giving myself permission to say “no” with softness and strength. No over-explaining. No guilt. Just boundaries that protect my time, my peace, and my purpose.
Remember: “No” is a full sentence, sis.
6. Reading for Pleasure, Not Pressure
Instead of forcing myself through “should-read” books, I’m diving into light, soulful, Black-authored reads that feel like warm hugs. Fiction, affirmations, memoirs — anything that nurtures my spirit.
Trina’s Pick: “Black Girls Must Die Exhausted” by Jayne Allen is a summer fave. So real, so healing.
7. Waking Up Slowly and With Intention
Gone are the days of rushing through the morning. I now take 15 minutes before anything else to breathe, stretch, and sip my lemon water. This simple practice sets the tone for the whole day.
Morning Vibe Essentials: Soft robe, silk eye mask, and a gratitude journal — all linked on my LTK page.
Sis, This Summer is Yours
You don’t need permission to prioritize yourself — you are the permission.
You deserve joy.
You deserve rest.
You deserve your own love, every single day.
